Schools across Boston started fully in-person classes this week for the first time in almost two years. As thousands of students and faculty head back to classrooms for the fall semester questions have been raised about the safety of having so many people in one place as the COVID-19 pandemic and its variants continue to sweep through communities across the world.

This week on MALN Opinion plus we checked in with Dr. Brenda Cassellius, the superintendent of Boston Public Schools. Dr. Cassellius let us know about her administration’s many plans to keep Boston’s children safe and in the classroom. Some of the most notable strategies are efforts to keep testing for COVID-19 frequent, mandate the wearing of masks for all students and faculty at all times, as well as protocols to keep sick students at home.

To hear more specifics about how Boston Public Schools are preparing for the fall semester you can watch this week’s interview with Dr. Cassellius below and check out some links to helpful information about these programs as well.
