Every week this past month, Pero Make It Newsy has made it its mission to share organizations and causes that are doing important work to help others.
In the latest piece for Pero Make It Newsy, we rounded up the organizations and causes the newsletter has highlighted each week and created a list for readers to use. Each cause or organization is diverse and supports women, BIPOC and other marginalized communities that are often overlooked.
Some of the organizations we highlighted include GLAAD, RAINN, Asian Americans Advancing Justice and many others. The piece will be updated every week with a new organization or cause for readers to learn about and support.
GLAAD: The Human Rights Campaign reported that more than 44 trans people were killed in 2020, with at least nine other reported deaths this year. Most of the trans people who were targeted were Black and Latinx women.
Last month, in honor of Women’s History Month and International Transgender Day of Visibility, GLAAD created a petition for the public to support trans women and girls.
“We all must fight against the unnecessary and unethical barriers placed on trans women and girls by lawmakers and those who co-opt the feminist label in the name of division and hatred. Our feminism must be unapologetically expansive so that we can leave the door open for future generations,” the organization wrote.

RAINN: April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, but awareness on this topic should not be confined to one month. One out of every six American women “has been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in her lifetime,” according to statistics from the network. RAINN has a list of resources for survivors and their loved ones, as well as a safe and confidential 24/7 hotline for people affected by sexual violence: 800.656.HOPE.
The new issue, out today, also dives into why women who own small businesses are not getting the federal aid they need and discusses the DOJ finally acknowledging that placing trans women in men’s prisons is “cruel and unusual punishment.”
Puppy columnist Princess Party Time is also back this week with a new column about how she loves springtime but doesn’t love her allergies.
